The world is full of different states of being. People in one state or another. Businesses, projects, relationships, preparations, and even conditions can be described as being in a “state”. On one hand it is relatively easy to recognize truth. Yet it seems as if the degree of difficulty geometrically increases the closer it gets to one’s self.
It’s not easy to see one’s self. If we are unable to see the truth in the mirror whatever help we seek or accept will not be what we most need. If we find difficulty is looking at our immediate surroundings with truth it is unlikely we will be able to give others our full relationship. Often we see others want us to see. We may fight it but we look through rose colored glasses anyway. We may live in a world of our imagination.
Divinity offers us a way to life. It begins with the opportunity to look, see, and just be in the present. It may be ugly, pretty, disgusting, awesome, or boring. Whatever it is, we can move forward in truth.
The second step rests on God’s respect and honor for where we want to be. If we don’t want Divinity, if our focus is on the Self, if we are using life, we’re telling God to stay away. Candidly this condition is metaphorically “not a bad place to get firewood. Dry twigs and dead branches are plentiful. It's the leavings of a people with no sense of God. So, the God who made them will have nothing to do with them. He who formed them will turn his back on them.” (Isaiah 27.11)
Third, even if we follow step two skip to step three, God’s face will remained inclined toward us. With the slightest indication we are interested in compassion, grace, and mercy, God is here. With even a hint of community, a longing for something beyond ourselves God is here. We turn, open a door, and discovered we are where God has always longed for us to be – in heaven’s party!
