“Close the book on Evil, God, but publish your mandate for us.” Psalm 7.9
Choices to make. Decisions piling on top on decisions already late. Deciding what to do in any given circumstance is difficult, especially if one really wants to do the “right” thing. How does one really know their destiny? How does one really know what is best for another person. How does really know if one choice is really the best choice, or even better than the alternative?
Answer: you don’t. But…
Even in the best conditions, the view of the future is hazy. With the best schooling, counseling, and friendship network the choices of the day are still complex and difficult.
Do we really believe this? If so, why? Is the future always murky?
Spending time away from the day to day grind is reflective.
This week I walked, talked, and explored another man’s job that mirrors my own. We have the same basic responsibilities, we have the same boss, and we face similar politics. There are the minor differences of being in two different continents, facing different cultures, and coming from very different backgrounds.
Our organization is striving to develop and share a roadmap for the future. It is our, my new partner and my, responsibility to develop and explain this roadmap. I am not sure the roadmap will ever exist.
Yet, I search for the same drawing in my personal life.
David’s Psalm suggests that God have us a mandate. David suggests there is a roadmap waiting for us to unfold and use.
This week I discovered the differences between our jobs is far less than the basic choices we face every day. This week I rediscovered the God mandate for living life.
Now I see a clear path and plain choices. My ability to monitor and understand the haze is not relevant. God has a clear mandate for each of us if we seek to know, listen, and understand.
The difficulty is living in the moment, resting in Him, letting God lead. Facing God choices is with us everyday.
