“Let ever living, breathing creature praise God!” Psalm 150.6
A year ago, I could not think of today. I carried doubts about my answer to God’s request to write these letters to you on his behalf. I wondered aloud about my relationship with him and fitness for the task. I struggled with my inability to rest in the Spirit.
Everyone around me is getting ready to celebrate the New Year. This morning, I had a whole train car to myself, trains ran on time, people stepped a little bit more crisply, and final preparations were underway. London likes to party, especially at the New Year. People started this year early, looking to erase the hassles and pain of the past and hope for the brightness of a new day and year. Every movement says, “It is time”!
It is time for a fresh start. God offers you and I the chance to start with a clean slate, enjoy life to the max, and have fun for eternity. This year I looked for the “catch” in His offer. I explored the natural fears, uncertainties, and doubts that we face when we come to the Presence. I looked, questioned, challenged, and made a decision. It is time.
New Year is often a time a fresh decisions, new resolutions, and reflection towards the future. There are many traditional commitments – health, weight, time management, and focus on family – just to name a few. Everyone appears to be making decisions for a “reason”. One person wants to be able to play better football. Another is looking for more excitement. A third is pursuing the potential of a relationship with a life partner. Do we know what our motive is?
I found an amazing God in writing these letters to you – a God who loves you and I unconditionally, a God who offers unfettered grace and never leaves. It is time to let the cymbals and drums rip, raise the roof with the castanets, dance until we cannot say anything else, trumpets roar, and strings soothe! It is time.
