With the Internet, and the WWW, it is getting to easy work overwhelmed by facts, figures, and theories. Search engines get better while information is harder to find, discern, and understand. The corporate response to this and more is to ask the question; is it core?
Is it core? I believe this the question we should ask everyone and everything around us. Once we do understand the core we can go for more building blocks, until then nothing everything else will fit into an appropriate context. The question often appears simple, it is, and with an obvious answer, not really. What are we really looking for? Do we really want the truth or something else?
To often we go in search of a restaurant thinking the only thing we want to know about is food. After we get there, we discover that we also wanted to know what kind of appearance and ambiance we would experience. The price becomes relevant along with the type of service and time to eat. The question remains; what is core? The answer will depend on what one is looking for.
To often I go searching for god thinking only about how he is going to answer a specific question or need. After I get there, I discover that I also want to know about what kind of things I am supposed to bring, what type of entity God is, and a sense of the real situation. I really want to know what is core with God.
Paul answers the question concisely. “Here it is in a nutshell: Just as one person did it wrong and got us in all this trouble with sin and death, another person did it right and got us out of it. But more than just getting us out of the trouble, he got us into life!” (Romans 5.18)
What is core? One person got everyone into trouble while another person got us out of the trouble and into life. It is core to get to the end of the sentence! Jesus gets us into life!
