Sometimes what is the best comes from the same source as a good friend’s admonition about a project that I have involved in; “always remember Bill, less is more.” Yesterday was one of the best.
The formula was not complicated. Put four friends together in the hearts of God’s garden (Redwoods), add a big dose of the Spirit’s presence (warm sun mixed with awesome air, incredible smells, and great conversations), and some simple fresh food; anything less than awesome could not describe it at all. As simple as it was and is, the pieces are very important.
Friends got together under God’s umbrella.
While together, they walked and sought in harmony with God and each other.
The Presence honored their unity with an awareness of the surroundings.
The Presence guided their steps, helping them avoid potential traps.
Friends left the forest richer and fuller for the experience.
The contrast with what we did not do is clear. No city traffic or prepared food. Avoid planned roads and highways, man made buildings. Enjoyment through shared relationships.
“I want to lay all this out on the table as clearly as I can.” (Romans 11.25) Approaching and walking with God is not complicated.
God has, is, and will continue to reach out to us.
God approach is unconditional – we cannot do anything that would or will deter Him.
God’s desire is for us to realize our full potential.
God knows every detail of our life – good, bad, and ugly.
Saying “yes” to God is our one question and priority.
Sometimes what everyone wants to make complicated is really quite simple. God is equally available to you and me. We stand together in His sight. He listens patiently to our words and thoughts, looking for fresh ways to let us know of His presence, concern, and love. We cannot do anything to earn or deserve His attention; His response is proactive and complete.
Yesterday I walked with friends in God’s presence. God’s gift is the most valuable thing I know. God’s gift is waiting just for you – it’s yours.
