Everything it seems is “spin” these days. Politicians break promises, or change their positions, on a daily basis. Journalists appear unable or unwilling to see through the rhetoric, and as a result, there is little public account. People involved in judicial system seem to live in a world unconnected to the one you and I face daily. People are expected to lie, use alibis, cheat their peers, take advantage of their companies, and cut corners whenever possible.
What is the real reality? Is history leaving us with the dregs? Are we stuck with anticipating a world where pain and disappointment are the norm? Is the reality of the morning merely an illusion painted while we wait for the night?
Accurate facts and data are very difficult to come by. I believe there are many who would like to provide honest data, but cannot given the complexities of the world in which we live. There are also those who live to make what data we do have more complex and confusing. The result is a world in which information, real, accurate, and insightful information is difficult to come by and often even more difficult to recognize.
The morning is bright, clear, and sunny. The paradox of spin and reality is a fact swirling as I look to the new day. In contrast, I find God quietly waiting to walk beside me. His offer is simple. His approach is clear. I know that even a child will understand the information. Solomon found the words to describe the reality we have before us.
“The banquet meal is ready to be served; lamb roasted, wine poured out, table set with silver and flowers.” (Proverbs 9.2)
The question that you and I face each morning, and in fact with each decision, is what reality will I choose? Do I live alone with the spin and swirl? Will I make the decision to add God’s data, information, and Presence to the mix?
Confusion often reigns during the day. My choice for God brings a fresh reality with a great meal!
