The scene could not be more quietly intense. When you listen, you can hear the burble of the south fork of the Eel River on the wind. The fog comes and goes at will, slowing everything down into a quiet song of meditation and then releasing it without notice. The moonlight penetrates everything in the stillness. I have not even got to the sunrises, evening glows, or the sounds of a orchid on a hot summer afternoon.
We sang praises to God last night and it seemed that nothing could top the noise. The band was awesome; electric guitars wailing, incredible sounds coming from the keyboard, cello strings flooding the middle, drums and bongos setting the pace, and voices that seemed almost eternal. Yet, as I walked out in the silence of the moon at 1 am and I found myself sensing even more of the Presence, more of my praise, and more of His touch than ever before.
The morning sun came all too soon. You knew from the beginning things were going to be hot. The fog was running for the coast. The winds were quietly slipping away. The morning sun was stealing the show. As people packed their vehicles to rejoin their regular lives, their rush screamed into the silence. It was hard to find anyone appreciating the beauty of the day and the moment, myself included.
“God’s blessing makes life rich; nothing we do can improve on God.” (Proverbs 10.22) When you and I understood this fact with the fibers of our being, life would take on a new meaning! God offers you and I the gift of awesome relationship. God is so obsessed with this that everything around us is trying to give us the news. Most of the time, I find myself too busy to listen.
Today I caught of glimpse of God’s conversation. His daily thoughts are beyond description! My advice, no plead, is that you stop and listen. He knows your name and your heart. He wants to tell you how much He loves you.
Yes, loves you.
