Young men always watch women. They check them out, put them on a scale, and guess at the “wow” factor. When I was younger, I always thought that at some point, I could never figure out exactly when, things would change. I knew that my dad never checked out the people around him. It was so obvious that he was too old to be making this type of judgment! Besides, women did not do this type of thing either!
I can be so very, very wrong!
First, men and women always watch the other. They behave differently, but the fact remains that they both watch. Second, the response and effort varies on a wide range of fronts. There are current and past cultural variations, age variations, demographic nuances, and of course a wide range of personal styles.
As I look at the women in my life, I can see differences in the type and style of women that I find attractive. Looking back, it is now hard to understand just what made sense in the views that I held when I was young. Experience though relationships brought a fundamental change in my sight. Women can be tall or short, tanned or pale, a wide ranges of ethnic backgrounds, schooled or otherwise, and that is not what draws me to them. I do find that the one thing all attractive women have something in common. The key difference is that “a woman of gentle grace gets respect.” (Proverbs 11.16) They have the “wow” factor!
I am very lucky to have three women in my life that carry this with panache and style. They are both fun to be around while I find myself changing in positive ways because of their influence.
Often I find myself returning to the gods of my youth. Today, I look for a different God; one full of gentle grace, mercy, and love. I want to introduce Him to you, let you have a chance to experience something different. I believe this is the one you have always thirsted to see and know.
