I often find life confusing. I know that it is probably obvious, or at least it always appears to be in hindsight. However, day-to-day, it is often difficult and puzzling when I look at the number of choices that are sitting right in front of me. The problem is not with the dark temptations of life; they are easy to stop anytime of the day or night. The challenge I find is with the responsibilities, accountabilities, and opportunities each of us every morning; they are confusing when my mind is clear, and completely baffling when I have let the stress of yesterday and tomorrow sit around!
The good news is that things do not need to be as confusing as I often find them. God continues to anticipate our blindness and provides signs and directions for each in their own journey. The one I often overlook is right around me. Solomon flagged it and reminds you and I today; “The desires of good people lead straight to the best.” (Proverbs 11.23) God is tugging at each heart. Following the desires of good people responding to God will point us in the right direction! Their path is not ours, however the destination is often the right one for both of us.
Streets in London are confusing, even to those in the know. There is a small box that appears frequently that quotes one of the experienced cabbies. The challenge is how to get from point A to B in the middle of the day (traffic). The answer is a brief description and an excerpt from a London map. Most of the time I have no idea of exactly where in London they are talking about, but every once in awhile I do. The directions make sense then!
There are three easy places to go when life is confusing. First, talk directly with God and ask. Leave yourself open for impressions and answers. Second, is to seek clarity and confirmation in God writings. Third, look around at the desires of good people. They often point straight to God.
