Did you know that to respond to what you were created to be is considered controversial? One thought currently under debate centers on what girls should respond to as they mature into womanhood. Is the focus of their lives on gaining positions of respect and power in the workplace and in society? Should they center their attention on gaining material success and fighting against the glass ceiling that sadly still prevails for many careers?
The alternative is stark. One author is now suggesting that the primary focus of your women should be on relations, love and being loved and nurturing families. The thought is based on what this writer calls “biology” however one could easily substitute a description based on creative purpose. Either way, there is a thirst which pervades who we are that is our true “purpose”, not the rat-race that passes for a life with purpose.
I would suggest that the answer lies in our thirst. Until we satisfy the longing of our souls whatever we do will never seem to be enough. If we are true to ourselves, we will continue to search for what is not ours, long to understand what remains unknown, and fight battles that may not be ours to win.
Do you know your purpose in life? Do you have a sense that your Father approves? Have you experienced the warm embrace of Mother?
Your purpose and mine is buried within the longing that each of us have to know and experience the Divine. When we satisfy this we find focus and mission. There is no catch to the equation, though much of my life has been spent in finding one. The key lies in saying “yes” to God, verbally, emotionally, and in every decision that I take. Saying yes is my statement of faith, trust, and hope. God always acts on our response. Everything is found in His unconditional acceptance of whom, what, and where we are; then the fireworks begin!
