This morning I awoke to a chorus of birds and a fresh sense of the morning dawn. Life all around me seems full of surprises, yet none appears to come with spite or vengeful anger. It would be easy to tell you the reasons that I do not deserve the new beginnings that come with the dawn. The legacy of mistakes and failures scream against unmerited gifts, yet that fact is that you and I will yet again receive a virgin dawn, a coat from the morning dew, and a sense of rebirth that can only be from the Divine.
There are those who explain away events through physical processes or a logical analysis of coincidence and conclusions. I do not doubt that God uses physical laws to accomplish Divine purposes but to limit the experience of a dawn to this extent is missing the emotions found in a painting or sculpture. God offers us such a greater experience that is found in the present of each moment. We have the opportunity to experience grace, love, mercy, compassion, and acceptance in the moments of life. Yet the gateway to this experience is often mask by our ego and need to create of god within.
You see, the “Fear-of-God is life itself, a full life, serene – no nasty surprises.” (Proverbs 19.24) Even more than the lack of nasty surprises is the discovery of beauty beyond our comprehension.
This morning a bird sang of hope and things new. The bright sun cut a streak through the gray dullness that covers England much of the time. Mollie, an eight month old puppy, expressed joy and hope from her eyes through the end of her tail with the first appearance of each family member. With each moment an expression of hope was given to everyone involved.
I wish I could package these moments and give them to you as a gift of the present. I dream and hope forgetting that you already even more available in your day. Seize the treasures; they are gifts from God personalized just for you.
