I know when sinusitis is going to hit. I can sense it coming physically and mentally. Until now I have always assumed that “the” key variable was the amount of water I consumed – drink at least two waters a day and no matter what, everything would be ok. Yet again I was very wrong!
For those not informed sinusitis is a physical condition where the mucus in you sinus system thickens and then becomes blocked. There are many different “causes”. Often these are aggravated by broken noses and other customized cartilage arrangements determined by life events. The solution for the latter is surgery when does help but does not cure. I know, I have been under the knife. So far there is no “cure” in my case, yet since surgery there is prevention.
This is where the rub comes in. Every time I am faced with unbearable pressure and pain in the upper front part of my skull I suspect that it is a pending attack. I know the solution which is actually just an extra dose of what would have prevented it from occurring in the first place! I need sleep, lots of water, and well managed stress and tension.
Everyone seems to be getting hit. The questions are obvious, real, and reflect a lot of pain.
“Who keeps getting beat up for no reason at all? Whose eyes are bleary and bloodshot?” [The answer can be disturbing.] It’s those who spend the night with a bottle, for whom drinking is serious business.” (Proverbs 23.29, 30) This suggests that just like my sinusitis attack earlier this week, it could have been avoided!
There is the obvious answer, that is take plenty of water, get lots of rest, don’t spend the night in the bottle, make sure drinking does not consume your life, and take steps to mange your stress.
These treat the externals but there is more. Look at what gives you happiness, peace, comfort, satisfaction, and energy. Where, who is the ultimate source? What would make life complete and purposeful?
My answer is God.
