The Prime Minister warns of a tough year ahead. The President alternates between saying war is about to begin and it may not be required. Stock markets the world over echo the turmoil and fears. Scandals continue to show up in bin bags, movie scripts, and new book releases. Sacrifices, adversity, and exploitation confront one at every corner. There is no escape, no place to hide, no obvious person to turn to.
Who is the answer? Who will provide relief from the adversaries that overwhelm us all? Who will confront those who are unaccountable? Is there anyone that can or will deal with this mess?
There are many that would position themselves as all or at least part of the answer. The reality of the situation is that “everyone tries to get help from the leader, but only GOD will give us justice.” (Proverbs 29.26) We may not want to acknowledge or live in the reality of the truth of God’s role but there is no other plausible solution or answer to the questions that will not go away.
In the midst of the gray skies, languishing hope, and unending pain, I find that blue skies waiting to be experienced and shared. We have so much beauty around us that is available to all. We are constantly presented with opportunities to be God’s eyes, earns, feet, hands, and voice. Everything is there. The foundations are in place. We have the moment of new beginnings. Yet, something unknown, uncertain, and disquieting remains unasked and unanswered.
I wonder if we know the answers to the questions that follow.
Who is our God?
To who or what will we turn to when we seek justice, hope, and mercy?
Where is the source of hope and optimism?
The questions rest with each, nobody is able to answer for another. I can tell you that my choice is clear. My God is the God of Israel, Calvary, Mercy, Compassion, and Love. The Spirit God is my guide and teacher. This is to whom I turn. Now the choice is yours.
