Everyone thinks that he or she works hard. Men, women, old, young, rich, and poor all believe that they are giving extraordinary efforts for this thing we call life. There are certain clich?s that have been around for lifetimes and, as a result, are often dismissed. Wisdom noted one of them.
“She’s up before dawn, preparing breakfast for her family and organizing her day.” (Proverbs 31.15)
I would gently suggest that each person’s role in a family is always underrated and undervalued. This is especially true with mothers who, in general, willingly take on a level of work, support, and involvement that is 24×7 for decades! Even if the modern breakfast is for the most part assembly the fact that there is milk, juice, and something to eat is witness to the fact that someone put some thought and work into planning, shopping, and then storing the items. Given my travel schedule I am constantly struck by the way everything works while I am away! It is as if I can help but regardless things will work.
Far too often I find myself taking things that work in life for granted. The family functions, bills are paid, food purchased and stored. It is as if I do not need to do anything for this to be. On some level this statement is true however in order to be a member of a family I need to participate as a member of a family.
God has planned and made every arrangement necessary for our restoration and recreation. He worried and took care of the technical details. He put a process in place so we could become aware of and have the opportunity to respond to the new way of living. Everything is done. It is as if you and I do not need to do anything for this to be. While it is true that God and his plan is working and in place there is a missing element that rests with you and I. Choice; our free will exercised with a decision to accept.
