We could easily see it coming. Cows everywhere! Bicycles, motorbikes, people, cars, buses, and trucks randomly and chaotically moving in a pattern they call traffic in India. The SUV taxi driver was focused on getting us to the airport in record time. We actually had plenty of time but he didn’t seem to know that. I began to wonder perhaps he did and we were the excuse for having some fun driving! Anyways, the speed and random swerves left and right only seemed to increase as we approached the airport.
On a long clear stretch the speed was approaching something out of control. The quasi traffic intersections were exercises of daring combined with a wish for death. The colors of the few daring traffic signals did little to impact the flow of humanity. As the light changed to amber I knew our driver was going to ignore the pending red. The only obstacle remaining was a parked dark blue Toyota. As we headed for the pristine tailgate the driver realized that trouble was just a few feet away! A slide to the right and feet planted on the brake pedal averted a sure disaster! The sound of wheels sliding across the pavement brought the briefest attention; the policeman monitoring the intersection didn’t even bother to look our way.
It was so obvious. Yet much in life is this way and we pay as much attention to the signs as the policeman did to the sound of a vehicle out of control. John notes the beginning of the revelation he received. “A revealing of Jesus, the Messiah. God gave it to make plain to his servants what is about to happen.” (Revelation 1.1) We have a roadmap in front of us if we are willing to open our minds to life. A Spirit guide is available to each as a mentor, comforter, and light to the way ahead. Personal Guardians have been appointed for life. Everything is here, potentially visible. Yet we choose to remain blind.
It doesn’t have to be this way. We have a choice.
