Knowing where I stand is important. Often I cannot do much about the position, yet the knowledge frees me to understand what the options are and frame the potential outcome of any decision I might take. The challenge with this need to know is that we rarely have complete information. I often find that when I go to get the missing pieces that others are not willing or able to share. With God the puzzle becomes even more complex. Even if we believe we have had a Divine revelation we are not sure of the source. For all other insights we depend on the witness and testimony of the Divine Words.
When I look across the spectrum I find that the key element that frees people up to share is something as simple and mystical as “trust”. With it, communication opens up and dialogue occurs. Without it, roadblocks and communication gaps abound with little to change the course of what follows.
I can find many experiential validations to this framework. The trust in my relationship with Cherry continues to provide the strength to bridge our views and move forward together. I find that even though I may not completely trust God, God trusts me. The result is that I find Divine’s word clearly and frankly laying out footing of my, and your, relationship with God. The footing is “Christ, who loves us, who blood-washed our sins from our lives.” (Revelation 1.4)
There is nothing conditional about God’s love. It is resolute, absolute, and filled with action. The ultimate action is found in God’s action to deal with the self-centric destruction in our lives. God did not stand idly by, hoping that we could pull ourselves out of our situation. God used Divine blood to clean up the mess, restore us to a position of relationship and opportunity. Our standing is clear and strong.
God’s gift is unique. I can only describe it as a gift of mercy, compassion, and love. Mercy is mystical, compassion divine, and relationship recreates. This is the footing on which we stand.
