There are questions that each generation asks. The questions usually include the following. Why am I here? Do I have a special purpose in life? What is the meaning of this life? The quest, often intense and passionate, to know can be full of interesting twists and turns. I along with many others have found the process to be frustrating, unending, and perplexing. If there are answers to the questions we all ask then why doesn’t somebody, especially God give us clear answers?
It is rather ironic when one looks at the facts. We have direct orders sitting on the table for us. As each one picks these orders up and actually puts them into practice we open our “self” up to receive additional special orders that consistently come! The special orders can be public, as John recorded while in vision, or in the form of words and impressions directly from God though the Spirit. John’s example was clear.
“The voice out of Heaven spoke to me again: “…You must go back and prophesy again over many peoples and nations and languages and kings.”” (Revelation 10.8-11)
Anyone can read his words and the call rings true. What an incredible vision! What a prophecy. Even if I do not understand the words the pictures that he describes are full of God images.
One of the easy mistakes is to look for the special orders before getting the direct order that applies to all of us. We are call to be soldiers for God. Our orders are not traditional fighting mantras, rather we are call to love, be merciful, practice unlimited and unmerited acceptance, actively live out compassion to those around us, and take care of the environment given in trust. These are orders from God! This is what we are called to live for. Every person has this call. There are no exceptions.
Within this, as we pick up and follow the call (order) we find our soul opens itself for special orders. The Spirit is ready to give; are we available and ready to accept?
