Is it half empty or half full? Is there hope or are we doomed? Can this be saved or should we write it off? What is the point, the matter is already settled? Why should we continue, nothing has worked in the past. The questions spin out of control. You can watch sport’s competitors face this question in battle. I see corporate citizens challenged by the harsh reality of life as they know it. The reality on the streets is rather ugly. Everyone one looks there are reasons, often by the bucketful, to give up! I cannot find a situation or person that is exempt; each faces the plague of pain, anguish, and people in the network who refuse to play by the rules of honor, dignity, and mutual respect.
In this reality someone comes along and asks how one’s day is going. What answer are they looking for? Do they really want the truth? Is anyone willing to deal with the harsh reality and pressures that can be found in any life at a given moment?
I wonder how I would describe the past few days, weeks, even months. Traditionally my response is a cheeky “Peachy keen”. Yet whatever the answer the underlying thread is one where hope is in doubt.
When I step back and think I know God will win in the end regardless of what happens on Monday or the days that follow. I have absolute faith in spite of my personal confusion yesterday and probably again tomorrow. I know that I will stand and say with others who have been through this living hell –
“Mighty your acts and marvelous, Oh God, the Sovereign-Strong! Righteous your ways and true, King of the nations! Who can fail to fear you, God, give glory to your Name? Because you and you only are holy, all nations will come and worship you, because they see your judgments are right.” (Revelation 15.3, 4)
The invitation is there for your voice. Life’s journey is different with God – experience it for yourself and then be the judge.
