Passionate execution at the right time receives one common element mixed in the overall response, respect. Regardless of the outcome of the ultimate battle or even the tactical move, the opposing team, force, or viewpoint will acknowledge just how powerful the move was and is. Understanding the power of involvement, knowing what can happen with the people work as one, and believing in community leads to passionate execution with results that extend beyond expectation and even imagination. Do we want to be part of this?
When people unite for a common purpose over a sustained period of time there are several things that will only occur as the moment passes. First, those involved rarely understand what they have at the time they have it. Second, the results of their efforts transcend people and time. It is as if the ripples of their collective splash continue into the future, moving through cultures and organizations, well beyond the immediate memories carried by those involved. Third, the power and value of the team assembled is rarely understood or appreciated by those not directly involved. It is as if others assume that the “magic” was automatic, not the result of dedicated and sacrificial commitment to a vision greater than any one individual.
Some might assume that this only happens with the cause it just. Nothing could be father from the truth! Joel records the impact of the destructive army. “They arrive like an earthquake, sweep through like a tornado. Sun and moon turn out their lights, stars black out.” (Joel 2.10) Yet even with the respect it doesn’t mean that evil will win over good. This is an important lesson for you and me. Never confuse respect with the winning move.
We have a open invitation to be part of something great. We can be part of God’s army, passionately bringing compassion, mercy, and acceptance to a world that has little. Being part of this community will bring respect; it will also bring victory! Divinity will be on our side. What an incredible opportunity! What a moment. It is now.
