The world is in short supply to two fronts. No, we are not short of money. Far too many people have more than they can possibly spend. No, we are not currently short of resources. I strongly agree that we are not using large pieces of our resources wisely or effectively but we are still, not yet, not short. No, we are not short of people willing and able to do work. It is true that matching willing workers with the right job is still a process that doesn’t work very well, however it does function in an inefficient sort of way. The world is short of creative ideas with passion.
How do we solve certain problems that are not documented in any textbook? Is there a collective response to the hunger, exploitation, and greed all around us? What do we do with wicked problems and conundrums?
The answer to each requires creative ideas and a passionate commitment to be engaged in the solution.
Can one confront relationship dilemmas? Do we survive the crisis that ever relationship faces, especially the hells of our own creation? Are there answers to the evolving challenges that teenagers face?
Again, creative ideas and passionate commitment are priceless gifts that have no alternative!
The challenge with this need for real value is what I find in my life and others. I head Jesus’ words echoing down the corridors of our lives. “How do you expect to get anywhere with God when you spend all your time jockeying for position with each other, ranking your rivals and ignoring God?” (John 5.44)
Yet there are people making a difference! I often find glimpses of the Creative Spirit showing up where one would least expect it so I find myself bathed in hope. Real value in found in your life, the lives of those we meet, and even in mine. The only question is our decision to make our life available to God. This is the source of potential peace, happiness, and purpose. My goal is to realize this hope and value today.
