You possess something that hundreds, thousands, millions, actually billions of people do not. You carry the knowledge that God exists and God loves you. When you add the fact that you know, however intuitively, experiencially, or factually based this knowledge is, God is loving, creative, and nurturing you have something the rest of the world yearns, longs for, and desperately seeks.
In the film Luster, the lead character struggled with the demons in the hell of his own creation. The struggle is so deep, long, and pervasive he doesn’t realize how God is creating in him from the inside out. People see the change within and follow, attracted by what common themes we all seek; mercy, acceptance, and living compassion. Luster thought the miracle was that he was alive; it truth it was in how he lived and responded to what God was doing within.
The reality of life is that each faces fear, pain, and turmoil beyond the body’s ability to cope. There is little to no hope in this regards; everything is overwhelming! Living day to day can easily depress and tear away at the necessary self-esteem, worth, and view of one’s soul. Imagine a world where your esteem, worth, and view were not determined or shaped by life events or our success in dealing with them. I am here to tell you that this world exists! It is as real and present as your realization of God.
When reality strikes and is present things happen! From times past right through today the fact is that “a huge crowd followed him, attracted by the miracles they had seen him do among the sick.” (John 6.2) What we easily forget is that the biggest miracle is the one occurring as God’s creative hand works in the lives of the character Luster as well as yours and mine.
I look out and see an opportunity waiting. Everything that God is done in your life and mine can be recreated in the lives of everyone around me. We have a role to play; now that’s an opportunity!
