I’ve missed almost four weeks with my home church. I should have been more observant before, but somehow I was too busy, consumed with my own stuff, or just careless. Several situations stood out. First was the inner smile and radiance from one who was pregnant; how could I have missed this? Second, the humility from several who are worship leaders was positively amazing. It is fantastic when people see more of themselves than they have for some time, especially when it is in Divinity’s light. Third, the overall sense of purpose and mission from more people filled me with renewed energy. Watching a family grow and mature is exciting.
I found myself reflecting on my own journey. What do others see changing in me? Am I responding to the call God has laid out for me? Are the steps I think I am taking visible to those around me? Do these sense, feel, and experience Divinity’s hand in my life?
It is almost too easy to reflect and be negative but that would miss the crux of the real question. The present is all matters. It is this moment and no other that counts. In five minutes it will be that moment, and so on. What others experience about the journey we choose is an observation, but may not be the whole story. It is said that our face reflects, if only for a millisecond, what is going on in our hearts and mind. Others sense the true story even if they do not recognize the language. So what will the present be?
You and I have the opportunity to let Divinity live within. Jesus did, and it showed. Hs response to the doubters was simply to lay it out in simple terms; “Believe me: I am in my Father and my Father is in me. If you can't believe that, believe what you see—these works.” (John 14.11) We, you and I, have this same window. I have seen it work; today, this moment is my chance and yours to see it as well.
