What do you want in life? I am not wondering if you want more security, money in the bank, or success. What do you really want? Peace, harmony, or happiness could easily be at the top of your list. Perhaps community and a sense of belonging are your first two choices. Maybe you would go for a sense of purpose. I anticipate that whatever your choice might be, it would end up reflecting your view of what comes with a sense being fulfilled. Given the turmoil, stress, and chaos of the past few days, coupled with legacy of living with uncertainty, I have no idea what I would choose.
I just spent several hours today pouring over light fixture catalogs. The process should have been reasonably straight forward. It wasn’t. Cherry and I didn’t disagree; neither of us could find anything we felt passionate about! In the end, like many other things in life, it was a choice.
I wonder what I would say to you about what I really want in life. To anything on the list I would say “yes” but what if I could choose only one or two. What would my choice be then?
As I reflect on my beginnings, middle, and eventual end, I take comfort in the fact that events “would confirm Jesus' word indicating the way he would die.” (John 18.32) This gives me comfort in the fact that anticipating, making a choice and then living with that choice is a worthy cause we should all take on. We have the opportunity to be intentional in all that we do! We can make a difference, find fulfillment, and live with purpose. Anger, frustration, and worry need not dominate our lives. We can face life in the present with hope and assurance.
I know this may sound odd; we live in a space where God loves us just as and where we are. This opens up everything. We can choose our future, destination, and way of getting there. The decision is yours and mine to make each and every moment.
