New York is on a singular quest. Let me suggest the following. The “game” of New York is to get “a” message from point A to B. It’s not as easy as it seems. Madison Avenue has made an industry based on the importance of this quest. Their answer comes through manipulation, titillation, and confusion (often masked as humor, intrigue, and association). Wall Street’s attention is one the equation of the “message”. Is a company worth what it says it is worth? Do we understand the risks? Are we willing to place our trust in the institution, concept, or individuals? Each answer lies in the quest.
On a personal level the quest and question remain unfinished. We’re not sure why we are where we are. We often wonder where we are going. If we linger in the presence the questions of pain, inequities, and exploitation, with our response to them, haunt anyone willing to reflect. It is a scary process!
I find myself wondering where everyone fits in. Who do I ask? Where do I reflect? Who understands and also has answers? The answer rests simply in being with God. In a moment I can let my thoughts, emotions, and heart rest with the Spirit. It is in this process at least one part of the quest to get the message to its destination finds success. Divinity is willing to engage with us, even if we have not or don’t even know how to ask.
A questionable king of long ago refused to ask God for anything. The answer for him, and us, is simply this; “The Master is going to give you a sign anyway. Watch for this: A girl who is presently a virgin will get pregnant. She'll bear a son and name him Immanuel (God-With-Us). By the time the child is twelve years old, able to make moral decisions, the threat of war will be over. Relax, those two kings that have you so worried will be out of the picture.” (Isaiah 7.14-16)
The Message is here, with and within us.
