There is something majestic, awesome, and inspiring about great churches, temples, and cathedrals. It is as if the human emotion which went into building the churches continues to echoes as prayer whispers as long as the building still stands. I find myself drawn to these places, especially for times of silent reflection and prayer. God seems to have a special voice in these moments; reaching out to talk, share, nurture, support, and most of all just be.
I find myself seeking out these moments and experiences, convinced that this is the place where God wants to meet. Yet every time I find myself out in nature, when I least expect it and often am not even looking, God speaks. I rediscover the incredible ways God speaks and sings through nature. I am reminded how you and I are part of an incredible family; we are children of God! I experience the lightness of being with God; we have a God defined by peace and the wonder of living life to the maximum. I am drawn into a picture far greater than anything real and imagined; God’s vision for you and for me is greater than our wildest dreams.
God is a natural part of this world and the fullness of who and what we are. Evil had no room in this space. Evil is a foreign object which God is dealing with in the fullness of time. When I recall the trees, wind, and sun, I recognize the words of old; “God! God majestic, God himself the place in a country of broad rivers and streams, but rivers blocked to invading ships, off-limits to predatory pirates.” (Isaiah 33.21)
God is accessible in every part of life. One can experience God in more than just the temple. God can be found walking the sidewalks of the city and village. One can experience God on sacred days. One can also walk with God in this moment and the next. God is in the big stuff and the small. God is a natural part of your life and mine.
