Agents

When I think of great woodworking, paintings, and photographs the first thing that comes to mind are the faces of friends with extraordinary talent.  If I reflect, I see the works of the visions and dreams playing out in objects, projects, and images.  It is a wonderful process; results reflecting Hope, creations giving birth to opportunity, and insights that tell a story far greater than the hands that gave shape and form ever realized were possible.  Each individual involved was an agent is something bigger, greater, and far more incredible than whatever makes up his or her self.
 
I find along the journey many who carry great visions, dreams, and abilities.  Sometimes great things hide within; waiting for the carrier to realize what is already true within.  On other occasions there is an emerging awareness of what might be, yet it is only a dream waiting for the right time to come into maturity. 
 
When I catch a vision of Divinity coming to life – in an object or action – I find myself caught in a moment that exists without time and place.  It is incredible.  Having asked, it often seems as if the person who is the agent has not idea of what I have witnessed.  It is awesome in a humbling, inspiring, and seemingly reverent kind of way.  It is as if God’s words were coming to life.  “I, God, started someone out from the north and he's come.  He was called out of the east by name.  He'll stomp the rulers into the mud the way a potter works the clay.”  (Isaiah 41.25)    
 
I love being in the presence of great things, because I love being in the presence of people touched by God.  It isn’t the results; it is the process and inspiration which begins as they realize Hope, give shape to Compassion, and capture glimpses of Mercy.  The truth they show includes more just their self.  It includes you and me.  We can be agents of God.  We can be witnesses of the Dream.  We can give others what God gives us.
