It usually comes from someone just beyond my vision. It is as if I would, could not see it. Randomly, and apparently without any special attention on my part, everything comes together. It is stunning! A random picture taken on a dark night with falling snow finds everything in perspective and contrast. As I walk by the scene a few days later I find myself puzzled; how could I have seen and experienced what I did when I did? A task for a friend comes together into a great experience playing with clear maple. Who knew? Imagine what it would have been like if I actually knew what I was doing! It was as if God was writing a song ignorant of who was participating.
Do not worry; things do not always work out. There are enough scraps waiting in the shop for someone more talented, insightful, and/or skilled to make them worthwhile. I am not sure everything is redeemable, but if it is, I am not the one to do it!
Far too often, I find myself in the ditch, wondering how I got there. I know things could be better. I believe things do work for those with good hearts. Yet the pain, anguish, and uncertainty are overwhelming! Life is ugly, even on a good day. Life is difficult, even for those with opportunity in their hands. Life can be problematic, no matter how good everything seems. The unknown often wins out over the known.
In the midst of the darkness, a Spirit whispers a song in the back of my soul. “High heavens, sing! God has done it. Deep earth, shout! And you mountains, sing! A forest choir of oaks and pines and cedars! God has redeemed Jacob. God's glory is on display in Israel.” (Isaiah 44.23) I am not talking about someone else; I am talking about you. This is not about the future; I am bringing the present into view. You do know need to wonder about the unknown; take a good look at your God. Experience Divinity and God’s gift.
