There is an interesting different between how people look at God. Some believe that God is found within. Many Christians, despite Divine words to the contrary disagree with this statement. Within those that believe God is within, there are several ways of understanding what this means as a practical reality. Without comment as to any other view, let explain what I find consistently true in my journey.
You are I are, at our best, weak vessels that God inhabits. We often fail to meet the expectations of others and especially to our self. We often take on more than we can possibly achieve. We even aspire to things totally beyond our reach.
God, in full knowledge and awareness of our condition, responds repeatedly with a common theme. “'As for me,' God says, 'this is my covenant with them: My Spirit that I've placed upon you and the words that I've given you to speak, they're not going to leave your mouths nor the mouths of your children nor the mouths of your grandchildren. You will keep repeating these words and won't ever stop.' God's orders.” (Isaiah 59.21) The Spirit lives within. God with and in you and me.
I know it seems impossible. Given my behavior at least, the fact that God is anywhere near often defies anyone's understanding! Yet it is in this magical mystery that Hope is ready for action. We have the potential to let God loose – anytime, anywhere. We have the potential to be God's eyes, hands, feet, arms, and even voice. We act on God's behalf. Our lives, especially in the greater scheme of things, may seem insignificant. Nothing is further from the truth! You and I make a difference, if only to our souls.
I have experienced God's touch through the actions of others. I have heard God's voice in an active debate. I have cried with God, praying that the evil that haunts your life and mine will pass.
Today is an opportunity to have an open house. We can introduce any and everyone to the God within.
