I wish everything in life could be as simple as the childhood games I played in India. In really did not matter what the game was; kick-ball, football, cricket, baseball, and even seven-tiles all had clear rules on who was in and who was not. You knew exactly where you stood. No questions needed to be asked or answered! The signs were obvious. Everyone understood, brutally at times, where they were in the greater scheme of the game at hand.
Life today appears to be very confusing. Corporate titles, or a lack of them, often tell a story that nobody really understands. Corporate, community, and even non-profit organizations rarely exist as clearly as they might appear on paper. The idea that anyone can measure and know his or her standing in the chaos is an interesting assumption without support or evidence. Nothing is as simple as it was when we were children, or is it?
I would like to gently remind you and myself that our title, perceived role, rank, or status, and even power are measures that do not really tell us anything that is worth considering. You and I carry a special designation that trumps everything else. You and I have been chosen in a game that ultimately is at the heart of real living. We are members of a very special club. It may be hard to see in haze of life's tears, pain, and chaos, however we are God's children. We are part of Divinity's family. Even further, “you are first in line: God, having raised up his Son, sent him to bless you as you turn, one by one, from your evil ways.” (Acts 3.26)
Life may seem complex, but it is actually very simple. God gave us life. We have and are called to deliver compassion, mercy, and acceptance in a world that primarily experiences and feels Evil's touch. We have and are embraced by Divinity.
In today's light, I know I am blessed. So are you. With this, life's uncertainty is not relevant. God is. We can be certain.
