Education

I grew up in an era when you needed to know where the parts of a computer were, how they worked with each other, and even some insight into the programming languages origins in order to use a computer.  Education often included diagrams, pictures, logical constructs, and extended conversations on the nuances of every interrelationship.  In hindsight, the only purpose this education served was to create a roadblock between one generation and another.  It was a way of educating many that, in the end, did not help most individuals. 
When one looks at computer users today, especially the exceptionally friendly computers (apples of course), one discovers that a large majority of the users have no idea what is inside the machine.  They plug things together but how the plugs fit, and magically things work.  They turn the machine on and expect that everything will be intuitive.  When it does not work effortlessly and seamlessly, frustration sets in. 
When one hears the words, “salvation comes no other way; no other name has been or will be given to us by which we can be saved, only this one.”  (Acts 4.11, 12)  It is easy to assume that the answer lies in factual knowledge, theological understanding, or being able to recite how things go together.  I would like to suggest that this premise and view is not what the majority of us need in order to understand God and our relationship with Divinity.
Geeks can really get a lot out of computers, if they combine the head knowledge with the experience (heart).  Even without the head knowledge, if one has the experience (heart) one can be a great (powerful) user.   I find God's strongest ambassadors and representatives often leverage the heart (experience), because it is there that one discovers what it means to be in relationship with Divinity.  When one's life has experienced truth filled peace, love centric compassion, and real community, one knows they have touched God.  These are the only things in life that will quench the soul's thirst for God.  Everything begins and ends here.
