With the passage of time that brings gray hairs and wrinkles, I have found that there is an odd linkage between truth, strength, and living. One is stronger in the presence of Truth. One feels better when one hears and listens to Truth. If in doubt, practicing Truth will accelerate the healing process within one's soul that restores the best of what we are intended to be. The outcome being fully and wholly in the presence of Truth is a life that knows, models, and witnesses to the ultimate reality of God's Spirit.
I know this and yet the dark side of life, untruth, often calls. As the dark skies fade into the rising sun, I find myself struggling to release myself into God's arms. It is simply a choice, yet it is one filled with tension. How can God truly love me as I am? What if God discovers that I often worship the god that lives within? Will things change if I reject God at any point in the future?
The ultimate expression of God is found in two truths. First, God knows us intimately. Divinity understands our past better than we ever will. Divinity can see our weaknesses with a clarity that humbles the best and horrifies any that have the courage to consider. Divinity knows how we have, are, and will stumble. God knows and in that knowledge, calls us Divinity's child, beloved and blessed.
Second, God invites us to experience the joy of restoration in our weaknesses, incompleteness, and failures. “We are witnesses to these things. The Holy Spirit, whom God gives to those who obey him, corroborates every detail.” (Acts 5.32)
The question for us in this moment is what to do with God's expression of truth. Will we ignore it? Can we continue to tell ourselves a different story? Is going on, as if God's truth does not exist, change anything?
Every moment that passes is merely a lost opportunity in our lives. What is already past does not need to haunt us; the question is now.
