Truth has one characteristic that I find annoying. When one lives with Truth in this world, patience is required. If one wants to walk with Truth, from my experience one must embrace following mantras. Truth only finds its true home in our lives in the fullness of time. Truth cannot be rushed or hurried. Truth cannot be forced and coerced. Truth is never the prisoner of another's agenda.
I wish Truth came in a different package, at least when it agreed with my views. If only others could be forced to adopt my truth. If only the truth I knew could be reflected in the actions and decisions of those around me, obviously without requiring any explanation, examples, or experience. If only my way of seeing things was seen by others as absolute truth.
Obviously, my wishes are self-centric, simplistic, and na?ve. As much as I do not want freedom for others, God gives it to each, freely and without conditions. As much as I want my view of truth to be yours, our responsibility to our soul and God requires that we exercise our freedom to live out our priorities and values. As much as I want everyone perspective to be consistent with mine, experience, personal perspectives, and our vision of God brings differences and diversity. In each case, we are richer for our differences.
With time, patience, and walking Truth's path, I find myself seeking diversity because I know it will strengthen everyone. I find myself looking for passionate engagement, not conforming unity. I find myself accepting the willingness of others holding different values and priorities; embracing the opportunity to in walking along side and making a difference.
When those before me embraced Truth, “the Word of God prospered. The number of disciples in Jerusalem increased dramatically. Not least, a great many priests submitted themselves to the faith.” (Acts 6.7)
The impact on the world began slowly, yet it is picking up momentum. Truth offers each a role in making a difference. With each moment in time, we move closer to our final answer.
