The briefing was focused on changing trends in how an industry looks at a particular business model. It highlighted that the reasons one embraced the model were very different from the ones that s/he valued when using the model. The details revealed that while a large majority believe the business model is viable, most are unwilling to consider using it.
There are many things in life that fall into a view of “great for others” but “not useful to me”. The conclusion strikes me as one that I frequently embrace. In the context of the other survey questions as well as what was left unasked, I find myself starting a fresh examination. Is the contradiction warranted? Are the reasons I have relied on valid? Am I willing to look with fresh eyes and an open mind?
I am acutely aware that actions tell the real story. If one says that they believe and is not acting then one must question the belief? Is it real? Have the tough questions been dealt with?
I am also aware that there are guides that shape our understanding and awareness. In many ways, the summary point lies with our hearts. Our emotional center shapes and steers our intellect. One writer linked the external to the internal, bringing what is hallowed outside within and then offering a judgment on what he observed. “God’s Book of the law guides our manners and customs here. Wives have no license to use the time of worship for unwarranted speaking.” (1 Corinthians 14.35) It is important to move beyond the group that triggered the observation and on to the connection with one’s life.
You and I have beliefs and stories we hold deep within our emotional center. Our hearts have sanctified this place within. It is where we keep what we most respect. Life is about connecting the moment at hand with this place. We have the freedom to take action. We can make a difference, even when it seems impossible. Looking back is the beginning of the story. The opportunity rests in this moment.
