The discussion took on dimensions that I do not think anyone in the group anticipated. It was as if we had known each other for years. Ideas bouncing off others ideas, morphing and reshaping themselves in ways that guided what followed. The building blocks that emerged as we talked form a foundation that we can build on. And, while the future has yet to be written, the stage is set for something great.
From the stories shared, I was reminded of a move character’s line: “Once an idea has taken hold of the brain it’s almost impossible to eradicate. An idea that is fully formed – fully understood – that sticks; right in there somewhere.” Experiences, conversations, and the outcomes of the past contributed to the beliefs and convictions shared. Ideas began to take hold, aligning us to a path and a journey filled with opportunities.
Stories can mix and mingle with each other to create something greater. The process reminded me that every story is a part of at least one other story. Our stories are intertwined in ways we never imagine or consider. When the stories mix and mingle, another stories with each as a character is born. When we willingly participate, the creative potential is endless.
I left with a pleasant surprise of how others influence and change my story. When they come, as in this case, positive, well intentioned, and openly embracing the potential in others, the outcome is energizing, exciting, and that one leaves each in front of multiple windows. We are in a fresh position to choose what we will do next however we are not thee same as we were. The difference is our experience with the other. An experience that metaphorically reflects how “light-seeds are planted in the souls of God’s people, joy-seeds are planted in good heart-soil.” (Psalm 97.11)
It was a fun conversation that left me infused with new ideas and hope. Regardless of what happens next, I am thankful to have been filled and infused with ideas. Now comes the opportunities to make them real.
