“Thank-you for your input yesterday.”
“You are welcomed. I am reading your draft. It is good except for one page. I have read it in detail. I think it would be stronger if you went with bullets and concise statements instead of the wording. I am working on draft edits. What do you think?”
As I heard the response I knew it was truth. Even as I kicked myself for not thinking about the reader when I first drafted the page, I found myself reflecting on the harmony when two work together. It is not the first time in recent days.
“No, this is not the latest model.”
“Ok. What is consistent and what has changed?”
“The shell is consistent along with the comfort pieces. The mechanisms on the two openings are improved in the new model.”
The response was consistent with the reviews I had read. As I let be guided through the details of the helmet I was holding in my hand, I realized that I have received more than the avoidance of wasted time and hassle. I had been reminded of the value of working with others in a spirit of candor and transparency. It felt good! The gift of another meant I had the information I needed to take action.
“I see that you seem to enjoy this dish.”
“Yes, it is quite good.”
“Fantastic. If you something even more special, may I suggest that you order…”
As I walked in a week later, I remembered. Even as I asked for the dish, I wondered what I would get and how I would react. Trusting is not always natural, especially when it comes to food! The result is my preferred go-to order.
Individual gifts of support, insight, and action, each a reminder of the outcomes of harmony. Many have given up hope, thinking that it is impossible. The gifts of others remind me that it is possible! “Let ocean breakers call out, “Encore!” and mountains harmonize the finale.” (Psalm 98.8)
Opportunities will come; I hope I can share with the same sprit.
