As I worked with the consulting team, lesson after lesson emerged. At the end of the day, we have reached a positive milestone, although it was still early in the project.
“Time to celebrate!”
“Why? We are nowhere near the finish line.”
“This is a process. The end goals you see today may change. It is important to take note of the steps and milestones along the way, celebrating each one as they come. Each represents hard work, learning and a marker we should remember. In short, is time to take note, reflect, and to celebrate! If we do this, we will always remember.”
The lesson landed as we celebrated. I still remember the advice. It was a modern adaptable of Psalmist wisdom; “You worked hard and deserve all you’ve got coming. Enjoy the blessing! Revel in the goodness!” (Psalm 128.2)
As today starts, I reflect on the milestones celebrated on the current start-up adventure. Each marker shares something in common with the others. Some of the things include the following.
Hard work is, within itself, its own reward. The most important lesson is to remember how hard certain steps are. A friend was talking to a group of young founders. “You do realize this is _)(*&^% hard work, don’t you?” When you give your all, there are no regrets even in failure. It is worth celebrating!
Striving to create a better world, for our communities as well as those we love, is a cause worthy of the gods. Each step is an opportunity and reason to celebrate. We could have taken the easy way out, focusing on exploiting and taking advantage of others. We could have, however we did not! We are collaborating with others for a better future. The step at hand is a milestone which matters! It is another reason to celebrate.
Every step is a learning opportunity. As we learn, we can work smarter, create even more good, and experience life’s greatest gifts – love, kindness, and relationships.
I come to today with lessons, learning, and desire. I look forward to the celebration.
