Five mentors gathered to review the midway progress of 10 founders. The founders had put in a tremendous amount of work. Each had dedicated themselves, pushed beyond their limits, and were clearly making progress. They survived what others had not.
In the wrap-up summaries, a veteran mentor offered the following paraphrased advice; “As mentors, we do not know what is right for you. We offer insights into our mistakes and successes. The best that you can do is to learn from us and avoid our mistakes. Your future is your own.”
Even as the words faded into silence, I could feel my soul reach out in an embrace. I am holding wisdom truth reminders which I will review with each dawn.
Wisdom, truth, and Divinity are all around me. There is a greater design for our lives which includes the way Life teaches us in each moment. The goal of these lessons does not rest in telling us what to do or forcing a particular path on anyone. Life offers, out of care, kindness, and love, to share the stories of others before us in the hope that we see the lessons within them. Sacred words offer to teach and instruct. Wisdom stories offer lessons and guidance. As omnipresent as they might be, they only find meaning through the way we wrestle with them, hear the truth in the context of our lives, and do something with them.
At times, there are guidelines which may not make complete sense. I have come to appreciate that the fullness of any lesson may be just beyond my grasp, even as I get the initial part of the lesson. Truth has a natural way of revealing itself in proportion to my openness and willingness to receive it. Leaping out in faith, even when you do not fully understand, can lead to new insights. I love the psalmist’s instructions, “Lift your praising hands to the Holy Place and bless God.” (Psalm 134.2)
Always remember, it is your live. Because Divinity has already chosen us, what comes next is your/my choice.
