The clouds did not seem to be moving. It felt as though they were hanging out to share a bit of shade for all who were willing to appreciate the shelter. Along the way, one building echoed the sky on its glass façade. The effortless blend of images opened a moment for Life to offer a teaching moment. It was direct, gentle, and challenging, of wonderful mix of the present and the future.
One’s light is an echo of what is within and without. Through our actions and words, we share the truth of our values and priorities. It is in this expression that the light of our souls is reflected for others as witnesses of what we hold closest to our hearts. When in the presence of Divinity in all her forms, there is a seamless reflection of the sky on glass.
In experiencing kindness and care, a door is open to reflect this in our lives with each step. Life is far bigger than me or any one individual. The greater story is being revealed in the way love responds to hate, kindness to selfishness, and caring to anguish and pain. It is a story that you and I are invited to be a part of. I hear it as an invitation, challenge, and calling to gift others with Divinity’s touch of compassion, acceptance, and belief. She knew what was possible within me. It is my opportunity to share the same with those I come to know.
Reflections and echoes are revealed through outcomes. Until the second sound is heard, there is no echo. Until someone notices the image in the mirror, the reflection may not have a chance to make a difference. A writer once observed that “This Son perfectly mirrors God and is stamped with God’s nature. He holds everything together by what he says – powerful words! The Son Is Higher than Angels” (Hebrews 1.3). His observation can be repeated today, in my life along with others. We reveal what care looks like. We demonstrate the difference that comes with kindness.
