There was only one way out. Up, in this case, had two options. I suspect there is an alternative. I also knew it was not an option. My challenge was using the directions with reflections and illusions. Metaphorically, I closed my mind to my vision and blindly followed directions. My senses were rapidly giving birth to false options. My faith that the guidance was in my best interests was rewarded with the desired result soon realised.
I am thankful for the instructions then and now. My childlike preference for doing it myself has given way to the experience of collaborating with others. As today begins, lesson reminders guide and shape the steps ahead.
Wisdom and guidance are available if one is open to finding and embracing them. Freedom gives one the ability to go it alone, knowing that the decision remains within as one embraces the stories shared by others. Often unseen or ignored, we have cheerleaders with us, offering encouragement and more when needed. Old stories offer today’s guidance; “By faith, Noah built a ship in the middle of dry land. He was warned about something he couldn’t see, and acted on what he was told. The result? His family was saved. His act of faith drew a sharp line between the evil of the unbelieving world and the rightness of the believing world. As a result, Noah became intimate with God.” (Hebrews 11.7)
Knowing who to trust is not enough; one must trust if their gift is to have value. I know others bring wisdom I do not have. The battle of letting go is waged because I want to do it myself. From directions to heavy lifting and beyond, gaps and weak points in my life can only be addressed by being in a relationship with Divinity and others. Each gift of care, kindness, and compassion can be used in getting to a better place. When I accept and use these gifts, I open the door to passing them on to others. We are on the same side, part of a large family.
