The craving for Bombay chaat was overwhelming. I was already in Dubai’s best district for Indian street food and snacks. In almost any direction, I could enjoy a comforting meal of my childhood favourites. As I placed the order for pani puri and mimosas, I thought of my refreshment pairing. I knew what could work – a fresh lime soda, salty. It arrived, without ice and in a perfect balance of ingredients. It was going to be a great meal.
In the quietness that followed a great, far too much food meal, I listened to life’s whispers that are echoing as today begins.
Life is bigger than me. While I enjoyed every dish and the salty fresh lime soda, it was the combination that elevated my experience to a higher level. As strong and capable as I can be on my best days, it is through collaboration that the impact of our efforts is truly felt in our communities. It begins when I leverage everything that has been entrusted to me. It may not seem like much, and yet within us is a “Double protection: wisdom and wealth! Plus this bonus: Wisdom energizes its owner.” (Ecclesiastes 7.12). Wealth is far more than money or accumulated toys. Our greatest wealth comes in the gifts of relationships, belonging, and hope that are stored within our hearts and souls.
Greatness is more than the numbers. Greatness is found in the miracle of hope breaking up the darkness. Greatness is the sip of water when everything within is crying out in thirst. Greatness is found in the embrace of compassion and love when one feels abandoned and alone. As simple as it is, there are times when the best, most overwhelming need in one’s life is for someone to sit with us and be present.
Divinity is the starting point of my collaborations, enabling me to live life to the fullest. She invites me into the bigger story. She gifts me with life’s greatest treasures. Today, I can extend gifts to others in my role as a representative of Divinity.
