It is time I let go; the kids are ready to run, jump, and climb on their own. I know I sound like a mother who will not let her children grow up, but I just cannot seem to help myself. They were so young when I first met them. I know that some were almost as old as I am, however wisdom rarely bears a direct link with chronological age. I watched them grow. I tried to help guide their path. Now they are ready to face the world on their own.
I know they will make mistakes. I am quite sure you and I do everyday as well! I know that they will stumble, hurting themselves as well as those they care about. I also know that they are sincere with their actions. They will care about those around them. They will work hard for the corporate goals and for their perspective of right and wrong. Life will not be easy, but is it for anyone?
I am confident that the learning that will come is a good thing. Mistakes and growth never take away from the past. On the contrary, it affirms the strength and foundation built though difficult times. I am proud of the opportunity that is now coming to reality. Is this not the case with all parents?
God has walked with you and I for awhile now. He nurtured us in tough times, teaching us along the way to understand His ways. I am confident that I know more about God today than I did two years ago. I am also sure that I will make mistakes, many critical and painful. I also know that God carries a special place in His heart for you and I. We are his children and friends. Nothing we can do will change these facts.
It is time for you and I to act! “So now you can pick out what's true and fair, find all the good trails! Lady Wisdom will be our close friend, and Brother Knowledge your pleasant companion.” (Proverbs 2.10)
