“God, mark us with grace and blessing! Smile!” Psalm 67.1
What in life do you most hope will happen? Is there something that you wish and dream could be beyond material things? How confident are you that there is any chance of your dream coming true?
David’s prayers are full of specific requests. Give me something, defend me, bless me, and curse them can be easily found. If David is a model, then approaching God with specifics is part of being honest with God. I find my prayers full of specific requests. Do this, give me this, help me there, and take care of a problem for someone close to my heart. At times, my prayers are materialistic, even through I never want to demand that God is Santa Claus.
In rare moments, one looks beyond the problems of the day. What do you think about during these times? Do you have a favorite dream you wish could come true? Is there something that you want to happen?
David’s prayer expresses the passion of his most intense dream. In my own words is comes out a little different. ‘God, give me a passion for other as you have. Jesus let me have your blessing! Wow!’ Imagine what could be if this dream came true. People would experience God through our decisions and choice. People could see a version of God in action; their problems addressed. The attention of anyone around me would be towards the Father. There would be smiles and laughter. You could find lots of smiles and laughter. I see a sense of awe and joy permeating everything!
We can realize our dreams. Our dreams can be real in more ways than we can imagine. God and Evil are strong. If we commit to one of the two sides, they will act on our behalf. If your dreams are of money and you pursue it without reservation, Evil will help your dreams come true. If you dream is to know God without reservation, God will help your dream come true. What do you want?
