I have no idea who the statue used for inspiration. I would love to meet her for a simple reason, her attitude. There is something about her, from her eyes to her posture and stance that speaks to me. She reminds me what it is like to live fully and at the maximum. Her courage is contagious. As I reflect on my experience at the Mark Hecham Gallery, I find myself energized. Bring on the day’s mountains to climb, people to embrace, and my life for living.
I may not have everything I need to make it a great day. Life is never about having enough. Life comes from the willingness to take each step with bold courage, resolute intent, and open eyes. It is not a time for cowardness and timidity. Remember, “This resurrection life you received from God is not a timid, grave-tending life. It’s adventurously expectant, greeting God with a childlike ‘What’s next, Papa?’” (Romans 8.15)
I have more than I realize. In every encounter I have, I meet someone who is more than what s/he realises. Recent conversations remind me that it is hard to know with conviction what Divinity can see clearly. I talk with individuals looking for more knowledge, unaware that they have the critical insights and understandings within them already. They know the essentials. Today is an opportunity for experience. Life can seem like a giant puzzle with endless pieces that do not seem connected. This is one perspective that is best answered by taking one step at a time. Seizing the moment is a step. Once embraced, the next will come.
I am never alone. The reminder as I expressed my thankfulness for the support as I wrestled with my father’s passing has been overwhelming. To each, in her or his own way, my best thank you is to take on life today with attitude. Each response can be compassionately intentional. Every step can be filled with kindness. Each thought can be caring. We are in this together. Today is my chance to lock arms, dance, and live.
