As I looked forward to sunset, I knew the traditional was not happening. The sun was hidden behind dust-infused clouds. There was no chance of a material change before darkness enveloped the city. I looked, caught in the fading light. It was a magical moment of watching the day fade into the night, the light slowly giving way to a gentle yet overwhelming darkness.
As I silently watched, life’s whispers dominated my mind, shaping my understanding of what was being revealed.
Beauty is revealed in every moment. I did not expect to see and experience awe-inspiring beauty in a sunset version of black and white. In the revelation, I found myself revisiting the moments of the day. In each, I could see kindness and care, in the gift of as well as the need for. It was as if Divinity had shaped each moment as a reminder of herself and all that She gifts my life with.
Every revelation of Divinity sets the stage for another. As the light faded, I found myself remembering earlier sunsets. Each was beautiful, filled with peace and restoration. As I reflected on the way they touched my heart, I found myself hearing Paul’s words differently; “The earlier revelation was intended simply to get us ready for the Messiah, who then puts everything right for those who trust him to do it.” (Romans 10.4) There is more to the scene than I imagined. Leaning in, and being open to what is experienced and sensed, is a window into a Divine conversation.
Seeing and experience is not a destination, it is a stage to which action is called. I often find myself settling into harmony and the awareness of how my heart and soul are being restored with Divine beauty and wonder. Healing is a divine gift that can be celebrated. In the fading light, I understood that Divine healing is also a call to action. I can make a difference in the moment that is now. Today’s response to being whole is in helping others step towards their life restoring wholesomeness.
