As I looked at the pieces on my desk, I wondered where things started. I remember the massive, size of a refrigerator storage unit I disassembled in university. It took me days to accomplish the task. As I look back, it seems so amazing that the machine of the day could hold as much data as it did. Fast forward, the pieces on the table reflected a 100 multiple of that machine. So much has changed and yet, at the foundation of it all, so little.
Other than scale, the essential elements were present, then and now. I know both have been replaced by solid-state designs. Even this change has preserved the underlying design framework using addressable storage, reference points, and access governance.
I reflect on the pieces still in a bag for some future use. I catch myself looking in the mirror of my life. Beyond the unique pieces that form my life, there is a framework that is as old as humanity itself.
I have been gifted with a wonderful design and framework to use for living. When combined with my soul, it is more than the sum of its parts. In short, the vessel and life within it is worthy of the gods. What follows, in the greater story, are the chapters written by my decisions and actions.
Within me is a place that Divinity calls home. I make a fresh choice in each moment; I recognise her or go it alone. The good news is that “Behind and underneath all this there is a holy, God-planted, God-tended root. If the primary root of the tree is holy, there’s bound to be some holy fruit.” (Romans 11.16)
I am designed for good. To realize the dream requires a combination of faith, intent, and action. Without any one of these, success will not be as great as it could be. In failure and darkness, it can be hard to remember. You and I are capable of love, compassion, and kindness. The basis for living is in our design. Today, I will write my story.
