Believers

It is too easy to wallow in cynicism. The facts, real and potential, easily support the dire premise(s).  Bad stories play better than happy endings.  It is as if we expect people to fail.  We might even consider contributing to the negative prediction if things are going well.  Being cynical can, on occasion, be confused with wisdom, experience, or insight.
Believing is the difficult side of the equation.  There are far too many reasons to not believe.  The challenge of trusting others no matter what the evidence says is too great for many.  The willingness to go against the tide is not there for others.  Even the simple act of standing up for the truth is beyond many.
I am living in the middle of this paradox.  Our emerging company is filled with many things new.  People, use of technology, organizational framework, service commitment, and ways of communicating are each unique in the time and place we find ourselves in.  Individuals are in unfamiliar roles with strangers.  While components are familiar, our technology platform is unique.  Even our organization is different.  Each component invites doubt.  Combined, we beg for cynicism.  It is almost too easy.
In spite of everything, there are great examples of the unimaginable, unbelievable, and uncertain becoming real, tangible.  It is incredible to watch the fears, uncertainties, and doubts slide away as individuals are able to touch and feel what we promised.
Ironically, we often find ourselves blind to the potential God has planted within each.  Even with Divinity there have been skeptics.  Yet with God, “nations all over the world will be in awe, taken aback, kings shocked into silence when they see him {God’s child].  For what was unheard of they'll see with their own eyes, what was unthinkable they'll have right before them.”  (Isaiah 52.14)  Lest we forget, we are part of the same family.
God has created within each the potential to love, give mercy, and make a difference.  We may struggle with the problems, chaos, and pain in our lives, yet we always hold the ability to choose.
