When you look at the restoration of a building in the middle of the process, it is downright ugly. Everything is destruction! It is hard to imagine that anything good is coming. There is a current project in downtown Manhattan that is an extreme restoration. Candidly, it would be more accurate to say there is a building that is being demolished. If not for a single narrow brick fa?ade that is still standing with aid, it would simply be a demolished building of yesterday. As it is, there is a thin wall still has lit signs in front noting that there is a parking entrance below. It is a rather bizarre sight, but that is what some remodelling efforts require! I wonder if anyone has extended the metaphor. Do they see a framework for what God might need to do with her or his soul? Given the potential implications, I doubt it.
I wish that you and I had the courage. If we deny the use of truth with God, then “who” will we possibly give it to? There is so much junk in my life, I am not sure I am prepared for what God will need to do if he is going to fully restore my life to its full potential. Even my weak attempts at worship could be called into question. I can hear the feedback already. “Why doesn't one of you just shut the Temple doors and lock them? Then none of you can get in and play at religion with this silly, empty-headed worship. I am not pleased. The God-of-the-Angel-Armies is not pleased. And I don't want any more of this so-called worship!” (Malachi 1.10)
Yet, this kind of bluntness is exactly what you and I need to grow. If we do not allow God to give us the truth in absolute love, what hope do we have of change? Divinity is the one who knows us best. Today is a day for courageous action. It starts with listening to the Spirit's voice, no matter how difficult this might be.
