“I’m singing at the top of my lungs, I’m so full of answered prayers.” Psalm 13.6
Superbowls, Stanley Cups, World Series are alike in one respect; victors celebrate! Doesn’t matter the hour, how tired or banged up they might be, when planes arrive, or what other important matters are scheduled. It is time to have a party!
The parties all circle around the same wagon; we are number 1 in our sport, we have vanished our foe, we executed our superior game plan, this was our day, God was on our side! Shortly after the required post-game interview, we relegate the second team to yesterday’s news. The focus is on reveling in the winners and their joy!
Have you ever noticed that the parties for individual sports are much more subdued? Unless there is a group effort, the celebration is limited to close friends. When a team, family, or corporation wins then everyone can join the festival.
David sounds like he is celebrating! He threw himself into the arms, he is singing, rather screaming, as loudly as he can, and he is full of good news. It is time for a party!
I do not feel like that this morning. I am tired, a little worried about the week’s schedule and sad because I am leaving the family again for a time. Days like this come all to frequently for a cross-pond family.
Yet… What are the buts to my state of mind?
God loves me.
God forgives me knowing that I will fail again today.
God loves me more than I can ever realize.
God gives me gifts of love.
God answers my prayers.
I am full of answered prayers. I am full of God’s touch and voice.
I have so much to celebrate. I have a God who is interested in me.
You do to.
You have a God who loves you.
You have a God who accepts you just as you are.
You have a God who will not leave you alone.
You have gifts of love.
You have answered prayers.
Let’s celebrate!
