Celebrating

Every country has its day of celebration.  At least once a year, often more than that, everyone takes a day to celebrate!  It is a day when one can put aside worries and fear.  It is a time when uncertainties and doubts can be acknowledged yet set in a context next to beauty, awe, and wonder.  There are so many things to be appreciated and treasured.  Life gives us gifts to be savored.  We can celebrate life no matter what circumstances are at the moment.
 
I find the act of celebrating to be a healing progress if one gives the self permission.  When one utters the words, “God, you are my God.  I celebrate you. I praise you.  You've done your share of miracle-wonders, well-thought-out plans, solid and sure.”  (Isaiah 25.1)  There is a tangible sense of hope which fills one’s soul.  The very act of saying the words makes a difference.  The process of experiencing what you hope and believe to be true is a step on the journey to realization. 
 
In truth there are reasons to celebrate.  Each has the opportunity to live.  Each is a child of God, holding the gifts Divinity has reserved for us within.  Each can and will experience wonder and beauty equal to the measure of willingness we bring.  No matter what life is like around us, we can be the difference.  In the context of pain and anguish, our celebration can be the springboard for others to take the step in accepting God’s gifts in their lives.  The invitation is open to all – come, experience, and enjoy.  There are serious reasons to party! 
 
Today is a fresh invitation to a new party.  Each step in our journey can take us deeper into the excitement of being alive.  This event is open to every member of our community.  You and I share an opportunity to be with God, enjoying life, reveling in beauty and wonder, realizing the reality of Hope.  We also hold invitations for others.  Today is a chance to pass them on to everyone along our path.
