Certainty, people, and action do not always mix. Specifically, consistent, always going to happen, 100% guaranteed, action by any individual is something I have never witnessed. I would love to be able to say that I have accomplished this, but it would be a falsehood.
It is hard to imagine anything other than a machine doing anything consistently over time with certainty. Within this reality is the premise of Divine certainty. To make matters more interesting, the premise starts with Divinity who continues to do big things! The premise is not new, the psalmist was talking about it thousands of years ago. “God made sky and soil, sea and all the fish in it. He always does what he says.” (Psalm 146.6).
While one sees and experiences the big stuff, the dawn of new days, the beauty of a sunset, the beauty of experiences in a flower, it often seems even more difficult to imagine Divinity involved in the matters of your life or mine. In the dark night of one’s soul, we cannot be that important.
As I find myself wrestling with doubt, Whispers I find myself holding onto include the following.
Divinity cannot help herself. She is defined by love and compassion in endless measure. The result is that every interest and action is driven and shared by this. You and I are Divinity’s children. If you think a mother is protective of her children, just imagine a Divine Mother who has put everything on the line so you and I can be restored to the fullness of our ideals.
Certainty comes when the end game has been decided. My understanding of the story begins with those who doubted Divinity’s motive and intent. In response, Divinity put everything on the line and demonstrated how pure love and compassion are shown through the human experience. The result answered the doubts with irrevocable proof. The result is Divine certainty, in action and results.
Doubts are answered through experience. Embracing what Divinity has done for you is the best thing you can do, for Divinity and yourself.
